I think Dunk was supposed to be heal and Tahlkora prot. If anyone noticed Tahlk gets prot skills, and weaps, when you first get her and Dunk gets heals. Go with that :P

It's funnny reading this post and seeing that a lot of people use their heroes the same way I do. I have no logical explaination for the role of any of my heroes. Take for instance when I used to run sabway with my necro toon. I'd always handle the SS build, I'd have MoW as the "healer" with the rit spells, and for no reason in particular, I'd use Olias as my mm. Honestly, I think for me it has more to do with the position on the drop down list than anything. When I do take a monk, I take Thalkora just because she's the first Monk on the drop down menu.

They share the same AI right? Just making sure...

I've never seen an appreciable difference between different characters and their skill usage.

That said, I tend to use my heroes with the attributes I acquired them with. I.e. Dunk is acquired as healer, and Tahlkora as prot, and that's sort of just the way I've kept them...Same with Olias.

yeah I have the heroes set up for one thing...ducky heals, takehoror is prot (usually leave her behind cause cant handle the grunting), oggy is smiting, olias is mm, sosucky is fire, zhed water, goren hammer, etc....easier to just set them up once, copy the set up and click it when I get another hero on a new character....some of the other heroes I change like koss may be sword or ax depending on if I have the weapon in storage....etc

as to how they ai works....who knows....but I will switch heroes if its requested (and the group wished to wait on weapon/rune etc switching)....whatever

^Same here on the set up. And I also leave them set for one thing, unless a change is needed or if a certain char is required I'll probably change it.

As for the AI, I would assume they would all be running with the same thing, thus no difference. But I donno.

Eh, I set up my Tahlky for prot and my Dunky for heal, so there's a difference for me. I usually don't take either because I play monk. Of the three necros my Livia is N/Rt healer, Olias SS, and MoW MM.

But when I set up Tahlky for heals once, I didn't really notice a difference.

Olias is mostly used as an MM because he's auto set-up as MM, tahlkora is prot and dunkoro healer. People often make the hero they get first as the job they need most. Olias is mostly the first necro people get and MM = autopilot for miss in NM. Dunkoro is the first Mo hero, and people need a potent healer. Etc.

You know what? That's a pretty good idea... Except I'd do it with a twist... I'd set a build that really isn't very good at all. Like, if everyone insisted that I bring Dunkoro when I want to bring Tahlkora or Ogden Stonehealer, I'd set all of Dunkoro's Attributes to zero (or basically don't spend any attribute points in any of the attributes), set his Secondary to a Necromancer, and fill is skill bar with random Necromancer stuff. When people figure out that Dunkoro isn't healing and questions me on that, I'd tell them this: "You wanted Dunkoro, you got Dunkoro. I told you that my hero choice was Ogden, and that whatever Hero I had didn't matter because it's the build that counts, not the Hero, but you didn't listen. Now you're stuck with a Monk/Necromancer with no heals and no spent Attribute points."

Well, then they'll probably be like "ur a noob", and I'll just laugh at them.

The only exception to this rule, of course, is if a specific hero is needed for a specific mission in Nightfall.

problem with heal and prot is that 1. A monk hero wil brun his energy quite fast ,doest reallly matter what bar u give him 2.A monk hero quite sucks with prot ,with the updated Ai i have noticed an abuse on prot skills give your hero monk prot spirit or spirit bond to watch the spam them at the most minimal threat
so imo monk heroes are good at making red bars go up but quite suck with prot ,bonus thing is that if u give the prot skills they will use them altho if not at the right moment.Best prot hero is imo ether renewal ele with prot spells ,go go prot spirit and spirit bond spamage,heroes excel at doing that

I set my heroes the same for each character, that way I always know which one to load for what I need.

Monks:
Dunkoror = Heal
Tahlkora = Protect
Ogden = Smite

Warriors:
Koss = Axe
Jora = Sword
Goren = Hammer

Necros:
Olias = Blood
Master of Whispers = Curses
Livia = Death

Elementalis:
Acolyte Sousuke = Fire
Zhed Shadowhoof = Earth/Water
Vekk = Air

Mesmer:
Norgu = Domination
Gwen = Illusion

Ritualist:
Razah = Restoration
Xandra = Channeling

For Ranger, Dervish, Paragon, and Assassin, I change them to what I need. I rarely use them, and change based on what I am doing. Ranger I use a lot, but don't see a need to run one as a Trapper or Beast Master.

That guy was absolutely right, just like Vekk is more proficient with earth magic because he lived underground and Jora is better with a hammer because she is taller and has more leverage.....

I told him they are both the same (given that both builds are exactly the same). He refused to believe me and continued going on about how Dunkoro will uses more prot skills while Tahlkora tends to use more heal skills. He even claimed that he tested this...

Now, I've been playing for over 3 years now and I've never once heard of such a thing!

Is this guy just retarded or did I miss an update?
My guess is he either "tested" this without properly controlling for variables or while running a prot build on Dunk and a heal build on Tahl. There is no evidence that the AI for either one is superior, and lots of evidence pointing to the fact that, given the same bar, they will do approximately the same thing.

its AI thats been coded the same, they have no personalities, so that said the only reason you would take one hero over the other is you like or dislike them for their models. like that one guy/girl likes livia for a mm cause she looks hot like that.

I always punish mine by taking him to the Master of Conditions and making him run laps around the students. You'd think Norgu would lose some weight as many times as I've made him run
